MY DREAM JOB DAY AFTER DAY

Thuringia has not only become Mutaz Yunan’s new home, at edm he also gets to pursue his dream job day in, day out. “I’ve always wanted to work as a design engineer in special machine construction.”

The 43-year-old has been pursuing this goal since a young age. Mutaz Yunan was born and raised in Iraq, completed his A-levels there and then went on to complete a bachelor’s and master’s degree in metal construction engineering.

He then moved to Thuringia, where he continued his studies at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. Mutaz Yunan became part of the edm team in the fall of 2015 after a professional stopover at a machine and plant manufacturer in Dingelstadt, which then had to file for insolvency.

SOLUTION-ORIENTED AND FRIENDLY

He now develops and designs mechanical assemblies, welded constructions and machine tools for specific projects and creates the necessary documentation such as hydraulic and pneumatic plans, machine documentation and diagrams. “As an extra task, I am responsible for programming the relevant software.” What he likes about his job is not only the variety – “I’m always dealing with new machines” – but also working in a team. “Everyone is very friendly and helpful. And everyone works in a solution-oriented way.”

“FAMILY BUSINESS” IS MORE THAN JUST A WORD

Mutaz Yunan has also been able to benefit from the good team spirit in his free time: He built a garage and a carport at home – with the help of his colleagues from the welding shop.

He likes it so much at edm that he did a lot of advertising for his employer at home. As a result, his wife is now also part of the edm team.
