IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH CUSTOMERS
Rene Fass’s start to working life was a little bumpy. He dropped out of school in the 8th grade. However, he eventually completed his secondary school leaving certificate and then joined edm in 2007 as an annual trainee. He liked it there so much that he began training as a precision mechanic, successfully completed it and has been an integral part of the team ever since.

“It’s just easy here,” he says and smiles. “The hierarchies are flat, we find a quick solution to private and professional problems together via the short official channels and, thanks to the informal atmosphere among colleagues, we communicate with each other as equals.”
As a precision mechanic, he accompanies the construction of a machine from start to finish. “I can organize my working hours as I wish. There is only one condition: If the customer is standing in our hall at some point on the pre-arranged date and wants to see their machine in operation, I have to be able to press the start button and the machine will run.” Things can therefore get a little more stressful and turbulent from time to time. But Rene Fasse also appreciates these phases of work.
INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP
And for the delivery to the customer and the assembly of the machines, Rene Fasse sometimes travels to the USA for a few weeks. “That’s always an exciting time. And it’s this close contact with customers that keeps me going. I often have to deal with very different people. This has even resulted in friendships.”
